  • Grated Coconut – 1/4gm
  • Chana Dal- 1 Cup
  • Tamarind – 1/2 Stick
  • Desi Ghee- 1/2Tbsp
  • Split Black Gram – 1/2Tbsp
  • Green Chili – 2-3
  • Ginger – 1-2 Inch
  • Salt - As Per the Taste
  • Mustard Seeds – 1/2Tbsp
  • Curry Leaves – 3-4
  • Many Indians must be familiar with the benefits of coconut chutney. Coconut chutney is the common Indian sauce found in South Indian cuisine. It goes particularly with Dosa, Idli, and Vada. There are many variations of coconut chutney and is prepared from urad dal or moong dal. But here we are preparing chutney with help of grated coconuts. So, let’s have a look and learn how to prepare this easy homemade chutney.

    How To Prepare Coconut Chutney Recipe

    • To begin with put all the ingredients such as grated coconut, green chilis, chana dal (soaked overnight), ginger, fresh tamarind, and salt in a blender. And then grind.
    • Make sure to keep the consistency thick. If you feel the chutney is too thick then you can add little water to loosen it up. 
    • On the other hand, for the tempering, heat desi ghee in a small pan over a medium flame. Once the ghee is sufficiently hot, add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, and split black gram dal.
    • Once it starts to splutter, bring it off the flame and pour the tempering over the chutney.
    • Finally, your chutney is ready to serve.

    Tips: To make your coconut chutney more flavourful, then you can add lemon juice, mint leaves, garlic, and even coriander leaves in the chutney.
