- To begin with put all the ingredients such as grated coconut, green chilis, chana dal (soaked overnight), ginger, fresh tamarind, and salt in a blender. And then grind.
- Make sure to keep the consistency thick. If you feel the chutney is too thick then you can add little water to loosen it up.
- On the other hand, for the tempering, heat desi ghee in a small pan over a medium flame. Once the ghee is sufficiently hot, add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, and split black gram dal.
- Once it starts to splutter, bring it off the flame and pour the tempering over the chutney.
- Finally, your chutney is ready to serve.
Tips: To make your coconut chutney more flavourful, then you can add lemon juice, mint leaves, garlic, and even coriander leaves in the chutney.
