Ingredients
  • Olive oil - 3 tbsp for cooking
  • Curd - 125g
  • Asafoetida/Hing - pinch
  • Olive oil - 1/2 tsp for tempering
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Dry Red Chilli - 1
  • Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 4 to 5
  • Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chili powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Fresh coriander - 1/2 tsp
  • Tomatoes, roughly chopped - 2 medium size
  • Green Chilli (finely chopped) - 3 to 4
  • Pink salt - pinch
  • Tomato raita is a mouthwatering side dish that goes well with parathas or even biryani. It is seasoned with a touch of salt and powdered spices. This Tomato Raita recipe is super quick and delicious to make! Each ingredient is easy to manage in every Indian household.

    How to Make Tomato Raita

    • Place a pan over medium flame and add oil to it.
    • Now add mustard seeds and cumin seeds once, they splutter add the tomatoes and pink salt. Mix well and
    • Cover it with a lid and cook them for 3-4 minutes or until they turn soft.
    • Now add the green chilies, fresh coriander, and mix again and let the tomatoes cool down.
    • To prepare the raita, take 1 cup curd and whisk for a minute till it turns smooth.
    • Now add pink salt, cumin powder, fresh coriander, and mix well. Now add the tomatoes and mix well. The tomato raita is ready.
    • For tempering, place a pan over a medium flame and then add oil to it.
    • Then, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves, and dry red chili.
    • Immediately pour the tempering on the tomato raita and then gently mix.
    • Then, finally, garnish with some tomatoes, cumin powder, and red chili powder.
    • Serve.
