    • Steam cooking does not involve the use of oil. So there is no addition of any extra fat.
    • Vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage etc., contain anti-cancer compounds which are damaged on overcooking.
    • Steaming these with a small amount of water retains these compounds as such.
    • Moreover, steaming softens the fibres in the food, leaving it more tender and digestible.
    • Also, the food retains its vibrant colours and original flavours.
    • Steaming aids in the preservation of water-soluble B and C vitamins. Minerals like potassium, phosphorus, and zinc are also retained in the cooked vegetables.

    1. Whole wheat is high in vitamin B, so it aids in energy production.
    2. It also contains fibre, which helps to speed up the digestive process and enhance general metabolism.
    3. Wheat has the largest concentration of antioxidants in the bran and germ layers, which are missing in refined wheat or maida.
    4. Onion, cabbage and capsicum all are rich sources of Vitamin C, which helps build immunity.
    5. Cabbage has a 40% soluble fibre and a 60% insoluble fibre ratio.
    6. Garlic assists in lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels, thus protecting the heart.
    7. Vinegar is said to be beneficial to diabetics since it promotes insulin action.
