How To Make Strawberry Matcha At Home?
Step 1: Make the Strawberry Puree
Wash and remove the green tops from the strawberries.
Add the chopped strawberries, honey or maple syrup, and lemon juice to a blender.
Blend until you get a smooth strawberry puree.
Tip: If you prefer a slightly chunky texture, mash the strawberries with a fork instead of blending them completely.
Step 2: Prepare the Matcha
Add 1 teaspoon of matcha powder to a small bowl or cup.
Pour in about 60 ml of warm water.
Whisk vigorously using a matcha whisk until the matcha dissolves and a light layer of foam forms.
If you don’t have a matcha whisk, use a small regular whisk or shake the mixture in a tightly closed jar.
Important: Avoid boiling-hot water. Very hot water can make matcha taste more bitter. Warm water works better.
Step 3: Sweeten the Matcha
Taste the matcha.
If you prefer a sweeter drink, add around 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup and mix well.
You can skip the sweetener if your strawberries are naturally sweet.
Step 4: Assemble the Strawberry Matcha
Take a tall glass and spoon the strawberry puree into the bottom.
Add ½ cup of ice cubes.
Slowly pour in 150 ml of chilled milk.
Finally, pour the prepared matcha gently over the milk.
You should see beautiful layers of strawberry, milk and green matcha.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
Top with a sliced strawberry if you like.
Give the drink a gentle stir before drinking so that the sweet strawberry puree blends with the creamy milk and earthy matcha.
Serve immediately while chilled.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Make Strawberry Matcha Without A Matcha Whisk?
Yes. You can use a small regular whisk, a milk frother, or shake matcha with warm water in a tightly sealed jar until it dissolves.
Can I Use Frozen Strawberries?
Yes. Frozen strawberries work well, especially when fresh strawberries are unavailable. Let them thaw slightly before blending for easier preparation.
What Milk Works Best For Strawberry Matcha?
You can use dairy milk or plant-based options such as almond, soy, or oat milk. Choose based on your preferred taste and nutritional needs.
Why Does My Matcha Taste Bitter?
Matcha can taste bitter when too much powder is used or when it is mixed with boiling water. Use warm water and adjust the quantity to your taste.
Can I Prepare Strawberry Matcha In Advance?
The strawberry puree can be prepared and refrigerated in advance. For the best flavour and appearance, assemble the drink with milk, ice and matcha just before serving.
